July


World’s largest Covid-19 Centre

Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal inaugurated the world’s largest Covid-19 facility in the Radha Soami Satsang Beas in Delhi. This facility includes more than 10 thousand beds. Also, India’s Covid-19 recovery rate crossed 60%.


On 25th July India has achieved a remarkable record of testing 4 lakh 20 thousand Covid-19 patients in a single day.


Rafale entry into India

On the 29th of July, the first batch of Rafale jets flew from France and officially Joined the Indian Air Force fleet in Haryana’s Ambala. This was considered to be strategically very important in the Indian defense system.

Ram Mandir Bhoomi Poojan

On the 5th of August Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. The temple will be 235 feet wide and 360 feet long. This temple complex will be the world’s third-largest Hindu shrine once completed. This will also lead to job opportunities and the development of the city through tourism.


Beirut Explosion

The port city of Beirut witnessed a huge explosion because of the storage of a large amount of ammonium nitrate which led to 204 death and 6,500 injuries. The total loss of property was estimated at around US$1.5 billion and left 300000 people homeless. The footage during and after the explosion was horrific. US geological survey detected a seismic event of 3.3 magnitudes and it was considered as one of the most powerful artificial non-nuclear explosions in history.


Israel UAE Peace Deal

Israel and UAE normalize their relationship officially under the Abraham Accords Peace Agreement: Treaty of Peace, Diplomatic Relations, and Full Normalization between the United Arab Emirates and the State of Israel on 13th August 2020. UAE thus became the third Arab country to normalize its relationship with Israel after Egypt and Jordan. The USA President played a major role in this agreement.


MS Dhoni took Retirement

On 15th August MS Dhoni announced his retirement from International cricket which shook his followers and marked the end of Dhoni's era in International Cricket.


Shinzō Abe Retired

The longest-serving Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe announced his retirement on 28th of August 2020 due to his health condition.


The demise of Pranab Mukherjee

On 31st August the former President Pranab Mukherjee passed away at the age of 84.



September


Covid-19 Update


India overpassed Brazil to become the 2nd largest number of people infected with coronavirus with more than 41 lakh positive cases in India on the 6th of September.


Agriculture Bill 2020

Indian Parliament passed the historic farm bill on 27th September, President Ram Nath Kovind gave his assent to the three “Agricultural Bill”- Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Commerce & Facilitation) Act 2020, Farmers’ (Empowerment & Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act 2020, and Essential Commodity (Amendment) Act 2020.

Atal Tunnel

Prime Minister inaugurated strategically important Atal Tunnel in Rohtang on the 3rd of October. This tunnel is at an elevation of 3100 meters.


Armenia Azerbaijan Clashes

Azerbaijan and Armenia both became independent from the Soviet Union in 1991. The conflict began between both countries after 1991, over the Nagoro-Karabakh region. The tension re-sparked back in 2018 because of Azerbaijan, who moved troops into the area, closer to its border with Georgia.

Joe Biden won the US Election

On 6th November Joe Biden won the USA presidential election to be elected as 46th President of the United States.


NDA won Bihar Election

National Democratic Alliance won Bihar 2020 election. Out of 243 seats, NDA won 125, RJD and alliance won 110. Nitish Kumar again took oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar.


Argentina Great Footballer Maradona's Death

Diego Armando Maradona an Argentina Footballer died on 25th November. He was one of the greatest players in the history of sports.



December


Pfizer Biotech Vaccine

Britain became the first country in the world to approve the use of Pfizer biotech vaccine to fight Covid-19.


French Anti-Separatism Bill

The whole incident started on 17th October when a mid-school teacher in Paris was beheaded by his student, days before he took a class on freedom of expression in which he showed cartoons of Prophet Mohammad from the satire of magazine Charlie Hebdo for discussion. French President Emmanuel Macron announced a drive to separate religion from education and the public sector in the country and after that incident, he came out in support of the teacher. On 9th December the French government unveiled draft legislation to combat “Radical Islamism”.


Corona Virus Update

On 20th December India crossed 1 Crore Covid-19 cases.


“Legion of Merit”

US President Donald Trump awarded Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the US third-highest award “Legion of Merit” for his role in advancing the US-India relationships along with Japanese Ex-PM Shinzo Abe and Australian PM Scott Morrison.


The journey of the year 2020 was very tough but humanity has always managed to survive even after the deadliest Pandemic like Covid-19. Let’s celebrate the upcoming year 2021 as a survivor and we wish you a very Happy New Year.
